The main objective of AI4REALNET - AI for REAL-world NETwork operation is to implement a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach that combines new algorithms and concepts in the field of artificial intelligence, open-source digital environments for testing and evaluating artificial intelligence in industrial use cases, socio-technical design of artificial intelligence-based decision-making systems, and human-machine interaction to better manage (in predictive and real-time mode) complex network infrastructures.

The goal of AI4REALNET is to foster the collaboration between humans and artificial intelligence as decision support for human operators of electrical, rail and air traffic systems, thus creating the conditions for the decarbonization of crucial sectors such as energy and transport.

The goal is not to replace humans with AI, but to ensure that AI emerges as a tool for faster decision-making and even autonomous planning of specific tasks.

Ultimately, the project aims to reduce the workload of operators in sectors where human intervention is prevalent, providing opportunities to address critical infrastructure challenges.
