The Department's Faculty is committed to undergraduate-level and post-graduate-level university teaching with the aim of training a new generation of conscious and responsible leaders. It is also committed to the continuous and lifelong training of professionals, with a rationale of upgrading skills and extending capabilities to new areas.

Contents

The teaching portfolio, to which the Department's Faculty contributes, includes all the disciplines of management, applied economics and industrial engineering for undergraduate and master's degree courses at the Politecnico di Milano.

Particular attention is paid to the role of technology and technological development as well as the multiple relationships between business, economy, environment and society, which form the core of the research activities.

Understanding the economic and managerial implications of the technologies under study improves students' contribution to technological development.

Methods

Consistent with its mission, the Department wants to position itself as a leader in the innovation of learning models, combining technology and management with experiential and one-to-one teaching methods.

Teaching methods and the students' learning experience are constantly updated, in particular through:

- laboratory courses in which students are confronted with real problems, applying the knowledge acquired in a context simulating the work environment;

- use of digital technologies to enhance the learning experience, such as virtual labs to gain experience in business realities and the organisation of international collaborative classes;

- innovative evaluation methods on projects, complex case studies and simulations, including peer review and evaluation.

Innovation Center of Didactics

The Department has established the Centre for Teaching Excellence and Innovation and organises a programme of initiatives aimed at enhancing the teaching skills of its teaching staff:

  • organisation of workshops and seminars for the exchange of experience and good practice in the field of education;
  • organisation of activities in which teachers work in pairs on course redesign, supporting each other in introducing innovative teaching methodologies;

  • adoption of an online Learning Management System or LMS;
