Floris Justus Van Krimpen is a dual PhD candidate at the Department of Management Engineering at Politecnico di Milano and at the faculty of Technology, Policy and Management at TU Delft.

His research is focused on the integration of conflicting design requirements (such as privacy, security and safety) into the innovation process of surveillance technologies.

Examples of these technologies are facial recognition technologies or technologies that enable the widespread location tracking of citizens.

Before he was a research assistant for Professor Hans de Bruijn at the TU Delft.

Following that he took part in a 1-year traineeship of X!Delft that focused innovation and contributing the the technologies that shape our future.

Research

Research interests: Surveillance technologies, conflicting design requirements, innovation process, responsible innovation.

Research projects: Uncovering how conflicting design requirements (privacy, security, safety etc) are integrated into the innovation process of surveillance technologies, such as facial recognition software.

Supervisor: Proff. Michela Arnaboldi at Politecnico di Milano and Hans de Bruijn at TU Delft.
