Research
My research interests cover the topics of firm survival, growth strategies, innovation, and emerging industries.
In previous studies I analysed how firms’ exit patterns are shaped by their innovative activities and the concurrent economic cycle.
In my doctoral dissertation I investigated the patterns and effects of reconfiguration activities undertaken by start-ups, analysing secondary data provided by the Central Bureau of Statistics Netherlands.
Currently, my research focuses on nascent industries, analysing their peculiar industrial dynamics, social acceptance, and legitimacy formation.
Furthermore, I am investigating the effect of sponsorship and certification on start-up development.
