Ricerca
Alessandra's research examines how organizations can thrive through new work practices and physical spaces, such as workspaces and neighborhood social spaces. She is broadly interested in how these organizational spacesrelate to work behavior and management goals (e.g., innovation and social responsibility). Her academic work investigates through quantitative and qualitative methods how the design and meaning of spaces influence crucial economic and social outcomes such as new venture creation, knowledge-worker productivity, and responsible business practices. Specifically, her research program falls into two streams. The first deals with how physical and social structures within workplaces shape knowledge production and inclusion. She has a particular interest in how space design can have (un)intended consequences on marginalized individuals and on how organizations and their members deal with spaces that lie beyond traditional organizational boundaries (e.g., homes and third places). The second stream investigates how neighborhood structures and urban physical and social infrastructures shape entrepreneurship, and in particular, startups’ founders and workforce. Her research contributes to several national and internation projects, including the project "MUSA – Multilayered Urban Sustainability Action. Spoke 6: Innovation for sustainable and inclusive society".
Areas of interest: Inequality and Organizations; Organizational Space; Place; Innovation; Entrepreneurship; Social Sustainability; Gender equality.
